At long last, the day had arrived, and Forum Horsens opened its doors to a thrilling opening day of this year’s Thomas Cup & Uber Cup in Denmark.
World champions, Olympic champions, global stars and rising talents — the first day had it all, and more.
Major badminton nations made their entrance and produced the expected convincing victories. In the Uber Cup, favourites China, Korea and Thailand all recorded wins, while on the men’s side in the Thomas Cup, pre-tournament contenders China, Indonesia and India also claimed emphatic victories.
The biggest positive surprise of the day was undoubtedly the home performances from both Danish teams. Denmark secured impressive victories in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
